Harp Concert by Serafina Steer

7.00pm Wednesday 13th May 2015

On 13th May in Chiswick House we are privileged to hold a Harp Concert by Serafina Steer.  Those of you who have heard Serafina before will know that her superb expertise on the Harp makes for a wonderful concert.

Serafina Steer now works mainly as a songwriter but was trained as a classical harpist and sometimes mixes the two. Over the last year she has played in various guises at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Albert Hall,  Brixton Academy and undertaken a major tour supporting an American folk rock band ‘The Decemberists’.

Serafina will be playing a mixed programme predominantly from the late 18th and early 19th century but with plenty of anomalous variety.

She always researches her programme for us, to find a particular piece which links the Devonshires, via Chatsworth and Chiswick House and this year is no exception – she has found a piece by Louis Spohr which is described as a possibly undiscovered piece (thus far) dedicated to Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.

Amongst other works, her programme will also include:  Byrd, Handel and Dodgson

We are very honoured that Serafina has agreed to play for us – because of her love of Chiswick House and Gardens –  and I know you will be delighted with the evening’s repertoire which will be beautiful listening, and fun – and all for only £15.00 per head, including a glass of wine.
