Giffords Circus at Chiswick House and Gardens

The 2015 summer tour will see Giffords Circus decamp to London for the first time in over 10 years. Back by popular demand following one of the most successful tours to date, Moon Songs will include 24 performances at Chiswick House & Gardens from Thursday 11 June until Wednesday 24 June inclusive.

Giffords Circus is a family-run vintage, circus that each summer returns with a show for families and film stars alike. They experiment with the circus form, weaving theatre, opera, dance and puppetry into a 90 minute fun filled show. They are always idiosyncratic, beautifully designed creations featuring a live orchestra, clowns, acrobats, horses, handmade costumes and a much loved goose.

The much celebrated Cal McCrystal will return for his fourth year as director. He said: “It is very exciting to be bringing the most beautiful circus in England from its home in the Cotswolds to
play in one of London’s most picturesque settings. We promise a show with more elegance, more excitement and more laughs than ever before.”

Giffords Circus producer Nell Gifford said: “The mischievous Giffords Circus is thrilled to be putting on two weekends of non stop shows in the glorious and iconic setting of Chiswick
House & Gardens.”

Chiswick House & Gardens is the perfect setting for the signature burgundy and gold showman’s wagons and billowing tent. Just a short distance from Chiswick Park tube station,
Turnham Green tube station and Chiswick mainline tube station, this newly introduced location offers Londoners the chance to experience the Cotswold magic of the Giffords Circus shows
which have amassed a loyal following over the last 14 years. Moon Songs invites audiences to enter the world of the Victorian Lunar Park, a fairground run by larger than life illusionist and man of magic and mystery, Odoroff, and his Little Man assistant, David.

Firm favourites and exciting newcomers will form the critically acclaimed company who will once again return with a host of highly skilled acts.

This year our famous jugglers, Bibi and Bichu bring their cousins from Ethiopia, all 13 of them, and magician Odoroff tries and fails to command this giant troupe of dancing gymnasts. Clown Tweedy is shot from a cannon and then turns himself into the man in the moon, the bear gallops past on a pony, the carousel horses come to life, the weather in the tent turns wintry, the jugglers are suddenly upside down, the little man laughs and chaos reigns in this topsy turvy lunatic world.

A dining experience like no other, Circus Sauce the 60 cover restaurant that travels with the circus will take bookings after the last evening performance at Chiswick House & Gardens. Diners can enjoy a locally sourced, freshly prepared and seasonal 3-course supper under
canvas, priced at £25 per adult and £12.50 per child under 14.
